AdBlue In your Fuel

All over Cheshire we have seen an increasing number of instances of AdBlue contamination wherein a driver has put AdBlue into their diesel fuel tank. This is to some extent due to motorists not being aware of the way to use it (remember: it is in reality not a fuel additive), and to some extent simply because the inlets for diesel and AdBlue are normally directly near to each other on the automobile.

So, what is the issue with having AdBlue in your diesel tank? Seeing that AdBlue is predominantly ionised water, it is actually almost the same as putting water into your tank. Diesel and water do not blend at all and attempting to run a diesel car on water is not going to work. Moreover, the urea is extremely corrosive to the fuel system pipes and seals and is prone to crystallisation, damaging injectors and fuel filters.
